Hi Anees, how are you :)? I am interested in this trek, can you please advise? How long it took to complete? Is the view to K2 worth doing this trek? Many thanks and good luck :)
Hi Marcin. Thanks for reaching out. This is one of my fabourite treks in Gilgit Baltistan. There are two options. One is Machulo to Machulo round trip and second os Machulo to Kharkoo valley.
Viewing K2 is not easy at all. It all depends on weather conditions in K2 region. If it is cloudy you cannot see any 8thousander peak. And if the weather is in your favour then you can se K2, Broad Peak, G1, G2, Siachin Glacier etc.
Many thanks for your prompt response. Very helpful. It is possible to reach to top from the valley and go back during one day?
Yes you can do it. It all depends on your stamina. Because 2000 meter acend in one day is quite challenging. And obviously 2000 meter decend also. I would recommend to spare 2 days for this trek.
Understand. What about overnight stay? Tent? Or there is a refuge?
Kuli Barangsa is a campsite for overnight stay in tents.
Well technically it is a minimum 3 day trek.
Day 1: Machulo Village- Kuli barangsa.
Day 2: Kuli barangsa - Machulo La Top - Kuli Barangsa
Day 3: Kuli Barangsa - Machulo
Thanks for your advise. I will be there in 4 weeks and finalizing my plans. Best regards and all the best in the mountains :)
But i did this from Machulo to Kharkoo Valley. So i stayed 1 night in Kuli Barangsa and next day on the top of Machulo La. Then direct decend to the other side in Kharkoo Valley.
Where are you from. And how many members?
From Poland. Traveling solo. Reaching Islamabad on 9th Sep. will have a car to reach valleys. Plan to go to Fairy Meadows, Khunjerab pass and thought of this trek
