Easy to follow
Scenery
Difficult
I followed this trail, with the intention of running it for some vertical training. It lived up to my expectations of being steep and having beautiful views. It's a combination of narrow forest trail (steep) which in some places is overgrown so the grasses brush past your legs, concrete forest access roads, and an asphalt segment. The natural beauty is stunning, both in the forest and in the sleepy village you pass through towards the top (Loukata). The highest point is a pretty and serene monastery/church, and it has panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the sea. My least favourite part was the last few hundred meters leading to km 5 (so between way points R3 and R4), as the route was but a narrow goat trail almost fully overgrown by tall bushes and thorns. Climbing down that path was too slow/cumbersome, and not a place you want to be. But, all in all the entire lap was a great way to start my day.
