Itinerary description
Lynches Hill State Forest is located 5km west of Gympie. We started this 6km trek from Palm Drive and headed north along the forestry track toward the Mary River. There is nothing particularly exciting about this walk but is reasonably short, not too steep and easy to follow so ideal for beginners. Initially, the trail follows the parameter of the northern forestry section and you can extend the trail by exiting the forest and walking down to check out the Mary River at Widgee Crossing (adds 3km to the hike). After 3.5km, cross Glastonbury Rd and the trail will so a similar loop on the southern section. On that side you can get a few glimpses on Mt Stratagus further to the south. At the end of this section you will be returned to your starting point. For further information, check out our Facebook Hiking Site- "Take A Hike- SE Qld".
