Itinerary description
This was our last day on the Lycian Way and I have to say: it was by far the most disappointing stretch. After 4 days of walking in paradise our luck had to run out at some point. This hike started all right with very nice views over ancient Patara, after that it became a rather dystopian encounter with Turkey's unchecked tourism development. For two hours we walked amidst bulldozered landscapes and abandoned construction sites of ill-planned real estate projects that were either ongoing or had been unfinished into perpetuity. After that we had some nice views over the Greek island of Kastelorizo and the trail surroundings became less hideous to look at, but it was nowhere near the beauty of our previous hiking days. I would advise anyone to not even bother with this stretch of the Lycian Way and either take alternative hiking path or take a bus to Kalkan.
