Itinerary description
Leaving the Lus Mór B&B / hostel, turn left at the top of the lane & then look for a forestry trail off to the right after 200 to 300 m.
Follow this track uphill through Ballinafunshogue Woods until you meet the Way & turn left.
Stay on this forestry track for several km & take a right turn up & over a beautiful path leading down to an excellent view over Loughdan. Turn left & then right further down the track.
This section of the Way is relatively new, if my memory serves me well, & passes through a path & out onto some fields.
There's a few stiles to climb over or pass through & eventually you come out onto a gravel track. Turn left & then right at the crossroads.
Follow the main road down to Oldbridge - there are a couple of nice spots to stop here.
This section of the Way is a little boring but, after a few kms on the road, take a right turn up a track which leads to a fine path. This passes through some lovely forest & there's an open-sided mountain shelter which is another fine place to rest & enjoy the view.
The path meanders along nicely from here into another forest with a superb path crossing the main road & a river.
At this point we took a turn off the Way to stop for a pint & something to eat in Lynams of Laragh.
Backtrack up Brockagh road & keep right of the church. There's a discreet sign here (easy to miss) leading you back onto the Way where you turn left & follow the forestry track up Brockagh.
This turns into another beautiful path with fine views of Derrybawn & Camaderry mountains & Glendalough.
You come out onto another forestry track & after a short while, a left turn takes you down a gradual path to Glendalough.
This is a very beautiful part of the Wicklow Way &, for me, possibly the best as you have a destination to go to ... Glendalough.
Enjoy!
