Itinerary description
Trail begins at the Military Information Point, just beyond the tiny village of Knockanarrigan. Ample car parking available. First 2 kilometers on public road, after which the trail begins to climb gently. 360 degree views from the top make this climb well worth the effort. Descent is steep in places, with care needed particularly in wet weather. Allow 6 hours, including lunch.
Note that this walk traverses the Army firing range. It should be safe at weekends, but check with military authorities before attempting it midweek. For your own safety, obey all red flag warnings.
