Itinerary description

This walk starts from Lower Pierce Reservoir car park and takes Old Upper Thomson road northwards. We follow this (past the famous Prata restaurant!) and continue onwards until the branch-off for Upper Pierce Reservoir. From then on, the road gets quieter as it makes it's way towards Upper Pierce Reservoir carpark. Once you reach the car park, there are hardly any paths to explore - at most, you have a short jaunt around the car park fronting Upper reservoir, and a linear walk across the dam that separates Upper from Lower Pierce Reservoir. Backtrack a little, and take the branch off to the various PUB substations to the west (all closed to the public). There is a small viewpoint area on this section, looking across Upper Pierce Reservoir. Then back to Old Upper Thomson road, continuing on the park connector until it terminates at Upper Thomson road. Turn right and make your way back to Thomson Nature park, and then explore at will. On the return trip, enjoy a detour through Lower Pierce Reservoir Park, with tranquil boardwalks and views across the reservoir. Avoid macaques as far as possible during the walk.

traffic builds up so although it is a lovely tree-lined avenue, it might be a little unpleasant to walk in work hours

Thomson Nature Park

This marks the start of Thomson Nature Park, which was developed around the site of a former Hainan Village and rambutan plantation. There are a series of interlocking trails (five) stretching 3.8 km around the former village's road network. Some areas may be a little muddy and wet after rainy periods, but there are beautiful trees here.
