Itinerary description
Beautiful! The color of the lake was just gorgeous. Views from the basin, the ridge, and lake were just outstanding. The basin was just lovely and the flowers were outstanding. For those that don't feel like making it up to the lake, you will be consoled with a wide, green area, a beautiful waterfall, and lots of light.
On July 18, there were 4-5 creeks to walk over (two via stones), and two log bridges that were fun. There was light rain in the afternoon around 2pm for about 30 minutes. Surface was mostly dirt, some spots with mud, and many spots with soft pine nettles when passing through the trees.
For folks that are in pretty good shape and well accustomed to the elevation, there will probably be few difficult spots. For mortals, there are a few long stretches that are quite steep, and more short steep sections that can be tough.
The parking lot was full when I arrived at 8am, so get there early for a good spot. The trail was well populated by humans and dogs.
