Itinerary description
Loveland pass west ( counter clockwise). This was the first time I have done this hike from the opposite direction and it was probably easier. The trail starts very clearly from the loveland pass car park and descends into the glacial hollow. It probably follows an old mine road as it makes it's way through some large boulder fields where the boulders have been moved aside. After crossing the first or second stream the path ends. from this point you have to pick the best route to avoid the numerous boggy areas and small streams. finally you make your way to some fir trees and scree where the ridge is not as steep to allow ascent. From there follow the ridge and finally the path back to the car park. Allow 2.5 hours.
