Itinerary description
Very scenic hike, usually very wet on the ridge around the upper lough so good boots required. Popped up to Kippure as well but can leave that out if visibility not good.

Moderate
Very squishy and squelchy after a couple of days rain. Not sure if the detour to Kippure was worth it (you'll have to cross the bog cutting/stream after passing over what seems to be slightly marshy terrain without any obvious trail - there is a short ladder and some stones where the map shows the stream being crossed, but you'll have to slide down a bit and scramble back up. There's a paved road then up to the summit.). The views of the lakes are spectacular though. Marked as moderate because there are lots of places which required finding a suitable way across the slippy boggy bits, with occasional jumping. Waterproof boots and poles recommended.
