Itinerary description
2k out of Drumconrath on the Nobber Road Lough Bracken is on the left at a sharp bend down a lane. There is car parking in front of the lake.
The route around the lake is clear, though potentially a little muddy and you do walk across open grass field. You do have to cross a few styles on route. I strolled around the lake and visited an adjoining field to look at recently cut down trees which would not be part of your standard walk around the lake.
The walk is very easy and pleasant with views of lake and nearby drumlins. The lake itself provides water to the village. and though the area is quiet, it is popular with anglers. walkers and swimmers. High turbidity (caused by particles suspended or dissolved in water) have caused some problems with drinking water quality for villagers. The overall amenity could be improved as some litter/dumping and shore erosion.
