Itinerary description

This is the second day hike in the Lost Maples State Natural Area. Trail headed uphill shortly after trailhead. Trail was along a creek bed and doubled as an access road, so not too bad. Continual uphill hike in a dry creek bed, which was pretty neat. In fact, the majority of this trail is in a creek bed. Not sure if the trail would be open in the wet season, but this time of year was definitely dry. Had to watch our step as creek bed rocks are fairly round. Several sections were steep, both uphill and downhill, so be very careful.

Completely different hike from the previous day's Maple Trail hike, until this trail intersected with the East Trail. Even though a longer trail, I venture to say this trail could be hiked with children.

Tarantula sighting was a bonus!

Tarantula! This booger scrambled around us making us all leap. Not expecting him at all.
