Itinerary description
Lost City Trek lasts 4 days.
The first day is done in about 4 hours and is 7 and a half kilometers of walking. Once in the Colombian jungle, you start the route to the first camp crossing rivers and waterfalls. You will be able to swim in them so remember to bring your swimsuit.
The second day is a bit more difficult because it is twice as long: 15 kilometers that take about 7 hours. This day's hike goes through the jungle of the Sierra Nevada and the Buritaca river valley. You will also pass through the Mutanzi indigenous village where you can learn about the lifestyle of the Kogui community. The route ends at Camp 3.
The route of the third day is the most spectacular, because you make the ascent to Lost City. The hike begins by climbing the 1,200 steps that lead to the Tayrona village. As the routes of Lost City are guided, they will explain the history and legends of this site, and it is very interesting. Afterwards, you return to Camp 2.
On the last day you will do a route of almost 15 kilometers in 7 hours. Crossing also rivers and waterfalls you return to Mamey, where the route to Lost City ends and you will be taken back to Santa Marta.
