Itinerary description
An adventurous route through a beautiful natural landscape with impressive rock formations and along the way also an ancient lycian city.
The route starts next to the mosque of Enişdibi. The people in this area live from tourism, from greenhouses and from making molasses from the Carob trees.
We first walk along a street through the picturesque hamlet and then pass an area with some greenhouses before continuing on a nature trail. This path is marked with blue dots. After a short distance we arrive at the ruins of an ancient lycian city.
Lycia was a state or nationality that flourished in Anatolia from 15–14th centuries BC (as Lukka) to 546 BC. It bordered the Mediterranean Sea in what is today the provinces of Antalya and Muğla in Turkey as well some inland parts of Burdur Province.
There are still some walls standing and we can also admire an authentic well. In a field next to it we find a number of sarcophagi that are still intact. A short distance past this we pass through an area with a kind of open fields which makes walking easy. Who knows, these may have been the farmlands of the former city. On this stretch we are actually following the Likya Yolu 6.04.
We then descend towards the sea and pass through a fairly rugged landscape with many stones. Our route also still seems to stick to the open spaces where possible, so the route is very varied.
Eventually we arrive at the sea and we have a view over a beautiful bay, where it seems that sometimes even quite large pleasure yachts like to anchor.
From here, a final segment awaits us that follows a challenging nature trail, back up to the hamlet Enişdibi. It's marked with blue dots so we can find it pretty easily.
When we have reached the village again, we pass an area of greenhouses before we are back at our starting point.
Some additional information:
The route is designed in a clockwise direction. It is recommended not to change the direction, because the blue dots can only be seen in this direction.
Time spent: total = 6 hours 47 minutes of which moving = 1 hour 53 minutes
There is no drinking water along the way.
The track is moderate from a technical point of view. It is not always easy to find the route. An adequate orientation ability is therefore a requirement. It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes and long pants.
Presence signposts:
The route is almost completely marked. Either with white-red stripes or with blue dots
If you think this is a nice track, please write a feedback. If you have had any problems, please comment and explain the solution you found. Remember that it takes less time to write a comment or review than it takes to create and post a track! But only in this way the information remains up-to-date.
Disclaimer.
I have personally performed and then downloaded the route described, along with the track and waypoints, based on my personal experience. However, it is important to note that these should be considered as general guides and not precise instructions. Trails may not always accurately represent the exact itinerary due to factors such as weak satellite reception during GPS recording, especially in areas with ravines, deep gorges, dense forests, and similar conditions. Furthermore, the situation of the hiking trails may change over time, meaning that the descriptions given no longer correspond to the current situation.
It is the sole responsibility of the individual undertaking these trails to take appropriate safety measures, which should be tailored to the specific difficulty level and be in accordance to the prevailing weather conditions. Additionally, it should be realized that one's technical and physical preparedness play a crucial role in ensuring a safe hiking experience.
I strongly recommend hiking with a companion when venturing into the mountains. Always inform a friend or family member of your itinerary and estimated time of return. Ensure that your phone has a sufficient battery charge, and carry an adequate supply of water, food, and appropriate shelter for the season and the chosen route.
Please commit to leaving the natural environment as pristine as you found it, or even better. This way, we can all continue to enjoy the beauty of these trails, leaving behind only the traces of our footsteps.
