Itinerary description

This family walk includes 1.5 km of ascent with the Great Orme Tramway, descent with great views via St Tudno’s Church and cemetery back towards Llandudno, and a stroll on the Pier of this Victorian sea resort.
The walk starts on Hooson’s Corner at the intersection of Gloddaeth Street and Mostyn Street, a short walk away from e.g. Town Hall parking and the Parade. You first walk to Great Orme Tramway Station, where you board the heritage tram to the summit (see http://www.greatormetramway.co.uk/en/ for more information; be sure to buy single tickets). At Halfway Station you change trains for the last stretch to Summit Station. Here you walk around the restaurant to the summit for a great view, and then descend mainly via tracks indicated by Great Orme – To Town signs (see photo). You first go down to the cemetery of St Tudno’s Church, beautifully situated on a quiet side of Orme mountain with great views of the Celtic Sea. The last part before the cemetery, the track takes you on very minor trails; there are many alternatives. From the cemetery, you follow the main track towards town. Shortly before the real descent starts, the views of the Pier and Llandudno town get better. I deviated a bit from the path to get better views (see waypoint). The path takes you past the Ski Centre down through the Happy Valley gardens towards the start of Marine Drive. Here you enter the Pier and follow it to the end (about 500 m). On the way back you keep to the left towards the Parade and shortly after return to the starting point.
Enough to eat and drink in Llandudno and at Summit Station.
