This route is a very quiet and easy walk suitable for everyone, from the beautiful village of Idrija that stands out for three things: zlikrofi (spooners), spikes and mercury mines. Its mines were declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012 by Unesco and there is a museum and a very interesting visit to the facilities.
From the village there is a path called Pot ob Rakah that follows a river channel of the Idrija river from the Kamst, an old water mill from the 18th century used by the mercury mines.
We left the car in the parking lot of the Spar supermarket which is free and very large and which is a little before the mill. From there we go along different streets, seeing a bit of the town and the river until we reach the water mill which is part of the mercury mines museum and which is still in good condition.
From there the path starts, very well arranged that passing by the side of the river, it will take us to a small rush at the end. The road continues fine in Idrija Bella but as we want to go see the "savage lake" and it is late, we will reach the rush and we will go back a small piece of the road until we reach the deviation, very well signposted and the wooden bridge that crosses the river Once on the other side we will find ourselves on the road that we will have to follow a short stretch to the right to a parking lot where we will find an explanation about the area and the lake. You will have to cross the road and on the other side we will find a river that passes under it and goes to the Idrija. We can go through any of the two corners that will give us different views. The path on the right is flatter and will take us to a viewpoint, the one on the left, steeper, leaves us at the edge of the lake. We did both as they are very short. It is a very peculiar little lake as it is embedded in the mountain that practically surrounds it and that does not let us guess what we will find. It also has a peculiarity that makes it quite attractive as the water comes from below and if it has rained a lot, it comes out with such force that it looks like it has a geyser in the middle. We were not lucky, but the sight of the lake with its mist was an almost magical sight. It seemed that at any moment a water woman would emerge from inside her.
Once seen we undid the road to return. You can also go down the road a little and go over the next bridge, but the road is so quiet that we preferred to go back.
