Itinerary description
Trail was marked as easy as most of the trails leads trough solid rocky path. The only two-three things needed to be considered as moderate.
Path after Djurine celije (archeological site ruins of Orthodox monastery from 15 century) to the main road to monastery Blagoveštenje and uphill accent from remains of Ottoman
mosque named Misa.
The third factor is the rain that started to fall at least 5 times during the this afternoon.
There is two water sources on the trail - one in monastery Blagoveštenje and second one on the downhill from summit Marjanac. Local people confirms that is water is for drinking. Moreover most of them come to the spring for water and carry it home.
Waypoints
Path to archeological site Djurine celije
The remains of an Orthodox monastery Djurine celije. Starting point was village Jarmenovci (Zdravkovac country club) but if you wish you can go trough car (not SUV) to one kilometer near site. Path is solid combination of asphalt road and rocky road
Đurine ćelije
The remains of a medieval monastery on the slopes of the mountain Rudnik. Monastery was dated in 15 century.
Spring near site
From this point track is really heavy. There is no path and ascent is very heavy
Forest path
During ascent from Djurine celije my route have two/three intersection with forest path but I did not tried to discovery where they are leading.
Intersection with path
My assumption is that is intersection with path the which leads from monastery Blagoveštenje and goes near spring. To be checked next time
Intersection to summit Veliki Šturac
Attention - be careful direction on the tree was covered with leaves
Intersection with one of the forest path
Intersection with one of the forest path. I marked several times intersection with other paths as material for investigation and possible new routes
Intersection - look back on the path from monastery Blagoveštenje
Intersection - look back on the path from monastery Blagoveštenje
Summit dedicated to Bane Ilic Rudnik mountaineer
Summit dedicated to Bane Ilic Rudnik mountaineer
Archaeological site Misa
Misa was Ottoman mosque built in 16 century. Unfortunately today it is very ruined historical object
Intersection keep right
One of many intersection on trail. Although it would be nice to go down (easier path) you still need to keep the right side and after a small slight ascent you come out on a straight road
Hunters hut (Lovacka kuca)
Little red roster house Just joking it is another hunting hut unfortunately locked but still can be used during rain
Intersection
This path probably leads to the beginning of the trail (to the water source) Check small turn on the right near Đurine ćelije

Hi! I'm a Spanish medicine student who is going to be doing a surgery rotation in Serbia. I was just starting in the trail running world, but due to a recent injurance I have decreased the level of toughness of my activities. Even though, I'm in love with the mountains and the landscapes, and I would love to visit the most recommendable places in Serbia
Could you help me with some advice or even helping me to meet some group that will accept me with them? I'm currently staying in Beograd, but during the weekends I have no problem at going somewhere else
Thank you a lot!!😄
Hello Antonio,
Nice to meet you.
Since you are recovery from a injury, I can recommend relaxing walks in Belgrade (lots of places where you can take a break when you need, and there is a lot of public transport - busses or trams for a quick and fast way to go back home).
One of the recommended places is a city park Kosutnjak https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Košutnjak and map of tracks http://dusanpopovic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Kosutnjak.gif or a mountain Avala.
Also a good alternative for walking can be the Ada lake but in the summer I do not recommend (too hot).
Regarding mountaineers’ societies you can check web page https://www.mojaplaneta.net/najave_akcija/ (only in Serbian language unfortunately). The Page contains announcements of the activities for a lot of mountaineers clubs in Serbia.
There is an options to go outside of Belgrade and visit Fruska Gora or Vrsac mountain, but it is too hot for this type of activities.
Additionally I can recommend the Deliblato sands one of the largest sands in Europe but the right time for visits is first week of October.
Hope that it helps
If you need more details or recommendation do not hesitate to contact me (via private chat)
Bets regards and quick recovery
