Ljubelj Pass - Koca na Prevalu - Planina Planinca - Grad Kamen - Begunje na Gorenjskem 2022-08-03 9:43
After a two-year wait, due to the restrictions of the COVID-19, this summer we went to see a little Slovenia. As on other occasions, with the help of Ramon de Giroguies , who has found us an alternative adjusted to the objectives. You will see that they are a set of several self-guided routes, which have the particularity of being easy and of a distance of less than 20 km. In some cases you can make small extensions to complete the route. They have also provided us with travel, accommodation and breakfast, lunch en route and dinner is no challenge for where we have stayed. During these seven days we will have covered about 125 km. +4,475 m. -5,870 m.
On the morning of the fifth day, they come to pick us up by car, and take all four of us in the direction of Austria, right where there is a tunnel that must connect both countries, the Ljubelj Pass. Here the driver "leaves" us and points to the beginning of the path. The "girls" stay to go more calmly and start a nice stretch of trail right next to the cliff, you can't swallow here either. There are sections with a “scary” cable. At one point we come across the tunnel cut into the rock in order to considerably shorten the road between Carniola and Carinthia - this has been happening for many years now. In the middle of the tunnel, in order to provide light and ventilation, there is a huge balcony in the abyss. In fact, with this window you don't even need to wear a front, but we used it to see better.
We leave the tunnel, and continue this stretch of beautiful path until we reach a track. We then return to take the path and finally the track again to the shelter of na Prevalu, a much larger building than it seems at first glance. We continue along the track to the next refuge of Planina Planinca. From this point we cross the track along a well-marked trail that goes straight down. We stopped for a few minutes to put our feet in the cold water. We passed a restaurant and an archery range with lying animals. We continue and suddenly arrive at Kamen Castle. Even now it is an impressive construction that, little by little, they are rebuilding. There is a good part that can be visited free of charge, and another private part.
At this moment, just after crossing the town, we got into the wrong hotel. We thought it was one and it turns out we were staying at another one in the center of town, precisely a hotel named after Slovenia's best-known musician, Avsenik . Give him a look on Wikipedia, his life and work are very interesting.
On this walk we were able to see different birds of prey, but one of them spectacularly, perched on top of a tree in wait. We saw a family of bats in a room of the castle. We also enjoyed berries, strawberries and raspberries, an explosion of pleasure in the mouth.
Health and Legs!!
