Itinerary description
Lion's head offers the best panoramic of Cape Town, Table Mountain and Twelve Apostles. Stunning 360° views, highly recommended to watch the sunset. In a clear day it is possible to see sunset and moonrise at the same time.
It seems there were two different routes to reach the top of Lion's Head but one of them is closed due to a ground collapse, so this is the only option at the moment (April 2019).
The hike begins at the parking area on Signal Hill Road. The path is broad and easy at the beginning and it becomes slightly harder when getting closer to the top. A section of the route is divided in two paths, the first one is a standard path while the second includes some ladders and staples, not complex but it can get easily crowded.
After sunset it gets dark very quickly. A head light or lantern might be really helpful.
