Itinerary description

We parked opposite the Vieux Grand Port police station and made our way through the sugar cane fields to the foot of the mountain.

This trail is definitely not for the faint of heart! Easily one of the toughest half-day hikes I've ever done. Make sure you wear adequate hiking shoes and bring plenty of water and mosquito repellent.

Even in the height of summer, parts of the trail are slippery and muddy due to humidity and rotting foliage. You'll need to use all four limbs throughout roughly 50% of the ascent and descent.

**Got lost roughly halfway back so make sure you stick to the trail on the way down and ignore the confusing squiggly path we traced on the way down**

There's at least 4 routes to this mountain.. You can make it in a loop too... You can do it alone... But beware... This island has a drug addiction problem... Solo hikers did got attacked. Hire a local guide... The fees are peanuts compared of your carbon emissions 🙏
