The hike to the Lion's Head in front of Table Mountain is defined as "iconic walking" and the term is fully justified.
Difficult to find such a beautiful route that in just a few km makes you climb with exposed paths, chains, ladders and a thousand other tricks in such a spectacular place, facing Table Mountain which has an incredible charm. Beyond her, lie the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Town, Robben Island, and the Atlantic Ocean near where it mixes with the Indian Ocean.
In short: a beautiful and rich route and wonderful panoramas.
Needless to start at the bottom, there is excellent free parking on Signal Hill Drive where the challenging course begins immediately.
After a short stretch on a wide sheep track, things immediately get complicated and the climb becomes intoxicating: rock leaps, exposed sections, iron chains, ladders. All in absolute safety but such as to discourage over half of my group.
Signs warn that you go up at your own risk, nice!
With a little effort you then get up and what you see, buffeted by the wind, is magnificent.
If I go back to South Africa (and I would really like to do it) I can also skip a park but I will definitely do this route again, it's worth it for life
