Itinerary description
4.0 mile warm up hike from Lewis Campground to the PATC (Potomac Appalachian Trail Club) Pocosin Cabin, and return.
Lewis CG is between Mile Markers 57 & 58 on the Skyline drive. If not camping at Lewis CG, park in lot of store, across from the rental cabins, just before CG area, and walk south to sites 16/17. The trail Lewis Mtn Trail starts here and in a short distance intersects the AT (Appalachian Trail). Follow the AT south bound to the Pocosin Road an turn left for 0.1 mi to the cabin.
Unfortunately for Thru-hikers on the AT, this cabin is locked and not available for camping without advance fees. Even the outhouse is locked!
