Itinerary description
A grandiose mixed hike / walk overview of Pano and Kato Lefkara's orthodox tradition. It looks easy, but it isn't, especially if you do the whole thing in one go. There is 600ms elevation involved in it, and that says it all!
The trail takes you outside the main Pano and Kato Lefkara villages, but it also passes through all the major tourist spots as well as the famous picturesque Venetian alleys of Lefkara. Feel free to expand / explore more, as you go along!
The trail visits some incredibly beautiful churches, especially the stunning, Byzantine-era Panagia Livadeiotissa (my personal favorite, offering magnificent views of the Syrkatis Valley), the partly painted Arhaggelos Michail in Kato Lefkara, and Agios Timotheos. Each church has its own long history, and it is culturally and historically important, even when this is not immediately apparent. The trail ends at the most famous of them all, the crown jewel of Timios Stavros, a 14th century church (heavily renovated) which holds the precious relic of the Holy Cross within an impressive silver case (which has its own cultural significance).
The churches in order of appearance, are:
For the Greek-speaking friends, I developed (in 2019) a very detailed set of photo-stories for these churches. There have been small changes in some of the churches since then, but the descriptions are still valid. You can read them in the following links:

For the record, these are NOT the only churches in the area!!! There are actually 5 more, but these will be the subject of a different trail / story.
Enjoy!
