Itinerary description
Start point: Road R336 Leenane to An Mám, drive on this road for approx. 10km from Lenane, take first road to the right after Kilmilkin church, cross the river on a wide bridge and then take right at next junction. Follow narrow road until a derelict foot over bridge over the river is seen on the right hand side. This is all private land and permission should be asked before parking. Continue waking on this tarmac lane for about 2 km. After crossing a bridge take immediately a path to the left (Gowlaunlee). Walk on this path until reaching a stream. At this point we abandon the wide path and then start ascending northwest direction on grassy land following upstream direction. Reach the top of the ridge and follow southwest directiom along the plateau. Walk on the eastern side of Mam Ean (541m) reach a corrib lake . From this point we have great panoramic views of the woodland area below. Continue northeast direction until reaching a crest . From this area we will see woodland below on the northern side of this mountain. The last part of the hike is on steep grassy land. Cross a stone fence near farm house to rerurn to our start point.
