Itinerary description
An enjoyable walk at the northern end of Galicica National Park, starting from the park entrance at the bottom of the Velestovo Road, near the fuel station in Ohrid. The trails are generally well marked (red and white paint on rocks) and the only times we went wrong were when there was a national park signpost pointing the way - beware of these, as they seem to point in the wrong direction! (The second 'wrong turn' took us to the steel cross overlooking Velgosti so is perhaps worth a visit!)
Walking is through scrub and forest lower down, with open pasture on top of the ridge and an impressive rocky section at Skala. There is a monastery and cave church above Velgosti to look at on the way down. There are a couple of streams on the route but I would not recommend drinking from them.
