Itinerary description
This track is from a group hike. Original plan was to do the Old River variation of Bear Head Circuit. So the route was going to be:
- Blackwood Ranges Track -> Fox Gully -> Clifford track -> Blackwood Ranges -> Bear Head Track and then once on the river bed, get into Watties Gully; continue for a while on the creek bed and then climb up W-NW (no trail, bushwhacking), and then merge onto Ah Kow Track.
We had a bit of confusion on the path once we arrived to the Lerderderg river, so continued along the river for a bit and then crossed it and started climbing north west (330-340 degree) until we hit the main ridge line at the top. The climb, although wasn't on a defined track, was relatively smooth. Once we arrived to the ridge line, we just continued N (7-10 degrees) until we hit Ah Kow track.
Set the difficulty as difficult since the track requires partial off trail navigation and has two steep descents and ascents.
