Itinerary description
The climb to the Pas de Grand Echaillon is short but steep. It will take about 35 minutes.
It is through dense woodland so there is enough shade and the track is beautiful although there are hardly any views to be had.
From the Pas de Grand Echaillon we walked an additional but not really interesting loop to try and get some better views.
Back at the Pas de Echaillon the descent back to Leoncel is along a long, broad, stony track which does give you good views of the valley between Leoncel and La Vacherie.
The last stretch towards Leoncel is very nice with the view of the tiny village of Leoncel and its Abbey tucked away in beautiful surroundings.
