Itinerary description
Fantastic hike down into the ravines on the Rio Lentegi and its nearby "water" courses with stunning views to the nearby ridges, cliffs, crags, and surrounding tops. Do it clockwise to avoid the hardest part at the end.Well signed at the very start, then only old wooden posts. At the end of the first min-ridge got RIGHT to drop into the first gorge (not signed). At the Rio Lentegi take the signed path for a few meters to the Poza de las Animas (Pool of the Souls) - an unexpectedly beautiful pool / cascade. Return to the small flat area and pick up the main path again in deep gorge territory - you never quite sure which one the path will lead you up next - but just trust it to get you on your way. Plenty of PR440 signs reappear much later (quite a comfort). Bits of the path in the middle third are obviously newly made and signed. Hopefully they will settle rather then wear badly.
If you need a caffeine kick to get you going try the friendly cafe/bar down in the centre of Otivar village before you start. (Park by the main road and take a 5 min stroll down to the main street). I guess they don't get too many foreign hikers, but the coffee was very good and got me round the 20k.
