Itinerary description
Not a real trail as it's following the dirt road. However the last 200m going down is really make your own way through the bush. Do not try to follow it unless you really know what you are doing. Poles will be a plus if you have them during those 200m. Useless for the rest of the walk. That last section gives it the difficult classification, otherwise it's super easy.
It should be much easier if you do it in reverse as you can climb up the steep part and then simply walk on the road for the rest of the way. I honestly wouldn't suggest anyone doing it the same way we did.

Beautiful trail along the lake.
I did this trail as the author suggested, doing the off-track part uphill first, then following the track back down to the car. You really do need to be capable to handle this first part as it's very steep and the loose rubble is quite treacherous. I loved it but my girlfriend nearly died. Even the trail is very steep in places. Definitely a difficult rating, but worth it if you're comfortable on steep, loose rock.
