Itinerary description

The route starts in the village of Bonconseil. We parked our car in a car park in the village, but it seems possible to park the car outside the village in the parking de l'Echaillon, halfway le Monal, if you prefer to walk less.

The route from the village parking starts with a steep path. The whole path is really well indicated and really easy to follow.

The first bit it's a really nice forest with lots of shadow. It is also the section that will be steeper in the route.

After a while going up through the forest, you will find an esplanade where people also leave their cars. From there on, the path is less steep, or even flat, and the hiking path becomes wider, so cars can even drive through the path to get to le Monal.

After looking around le Monal, we decide to go back to the car. From le Monal we decide to take a smaller path until we get to a bridge, and then the whole journey back to the parking is the same.
