Itinerary description

It is the third highest peak 812 m in Mauritius after Black River Peak and Petter Both Mt. The hike offers wonderful views of the Port Louis and Moka region. There are two routes to climb the mountain - one from Port Louis, and the other from Moka (this one).

I was unlucky with Le Pouce. When I almost reached the top, weather suddenly changed and rain with strong wind started (on pictures). As a result, no view from the top for me, but people say that it is an amazing 360 degree view on the island. After spending about an hour on the top, I had to descent as I could not wait more. Apart from that, the trail also became super muddy.

You will start walking through a sugar cane plantation till P-04. Then continue through a forest where you will start ascending a bit more gradually. After P-12 the route will become more open, but you will start going through bushes and end up in dense tropical vegetation at some moments like P-16 or P-21. After P-21 the trail will turn and the climb will become much steeper.

Parking location is -20.207672, 57.526924. Any car can reach the location. The parking area is not big, but I saw only three cars there.

Must-have gear:
1) Hiking shoes
2) about 2 liters of water depending on the season
3) mosquito repellent
4) windbreaker depending on the weather

I also recommend to have extra shoes, socks and pants in your car to change in case if you go there after rain.
