Itinerary description

We were thinking this hike was gonna be an average hike and that there would be a trail when we started north of Tagdicht. It was not :)

If you like wild hiking, scrambling, searching for ways to hike up, this is the hike for you. This was basically a mix of goat trails, old trails and a bit of climbing. There is no defined trail on the north side of the village and so, if you're experienced, have time or bored, you should do it. This is why we took very long to reach the summit (around 6 hours). Usually, tourists take the normal route (up and down) on the southwest side of the town (normally 3-4 hours to go up).

Between km 3 and 3.5 of the hike, the shrub and trees get dense and impossible to penetrate so suggest to keep to the left towards the rocks and follow the goat trail or what seems to be an old trail. This part on the rocks was fun and very scenic.

The Le Kest massif summit has two major peaks. This hike passes the first one (and lower in altitude) on its south side (you can also see at around km 5.5 we were looking for the best way to go up) and from there you can access the higher peak (and encounter the usual trail to descend). This part was fun and you can add ascending to the lower peak if you have time.

very good. I also often go around there. I made those thick mountains several times from the path. it's not for everyone. I'm an Italian mountain guide, so obviously I didn't have any problems. the high mountain is quite another thing.

Yes, it was a good hike. Just need experience to know your way around and some good GPS. We're going to the Torino area soon and see if we can take on the Italian alps!

I highly recommend the Italian Alps, they are very beautiful. As gps the 2 best for trekking are garmin gps mp 64 / gps map 66 / and Etrex 35 touch.
