Trudie leads this tour in German and she has a competent answer to every question, she knows each shell by name and knows so much to tell about this "intermediate world", tides, life in the sea in the present and in earlier times. Simply amazing what she tells everything.
I highly recommend this tour.
Waypoints
Le Hocq Tower
Starting point is the Le Hocq Tower. The Martello Tower was the first of the many defensive towers along the coast to defend against France (1778). General Seymour Conway (1719-1795) ordered the construction of 30 round towers. The entrance to the tower is on the first floor and can only be reached by a ladder. The tower is conical: at the bottom, it measures 10.5 meters in diameter, 8.7 meters at the top. On the bottom floor were the warehouses and magazines, the two upper ones served as accommodation. A heavy cannon stood on the roof.
Sandschlieren auf dem Wasser
Sandschlieren mean on the water, the tide comes. We set off two hours before low tide and then started the return journey at low tide. The flood is not linear, but follows the so-called 12 rules. If you divide the time from low tide to high tide into 6 parts, the tide in the first part increases by 1/12, in the second part by 2/12, in the third and fourth part by 3/12 and then again in the second part 5th part at 2/12 and at the last section at 1/12.
