Trail from Las Aguas to Monserrate
Hiking to the top of Cerro Monserrate,
Fee: Entrance is free, open every day from 5:00 am to 1:00pm ascent and from 5:00 am to 4:00 pm descent
Safety: Main concerns about hiking in Colombia is if it's safe, well, this trail is very popular and there are many elements of police in there, also always are a lot of people climbing so you probable you will never be alone there
Difficult: It's hard if you're not used to that altitude, highest point is 3152 msnm, also with 1605 steps is a challenge for your legs, and because steps are made of rocks it's better to bring a good pair of shoes with grip, it can be very slippery especially in descent
On top you can follow all stages of Via Crucis, get some souvenirs and also have a good meal ( cheap or expensive there plenty of options) so be sure of have enough time
Recomendations:
- Come early to avoid sun or get some sunscreen
- bring your hat or scarf if you dont like to much cold
- bring shoes with good grip
- keep your own pace, is easy to get cramps if you try to go to fast
Note: descent wasn't recorded because forget to resume, but it takes less time, a last recomendation is to take pictures in descent and not the ascent
