Itinerary description

🇪🇸 Español: Ruta circular de 13km hasta el Puntal d´Artana, subiendo por l'Arquet de la Rambla y descenso por las Cingles de Mondragón, la Penya del Migdia y la Cueva de San Vicent. La ruta empieza en el pueblo de Alfondeguilla, situado en el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Espadán.

Desde Valencia, Alfondeguilla se encuentra a unos 50km, justo después de la Vall d´Uixó. Para aparcar, hay un amplio aparcamiento de tierra, ideal para esta ruta ya que la senda del descenso llega justo atrás de este terreno.

Esta ruta se puede dividir en cinco tramos:

Tramo 1: Alfondeguilla - l'Arquet de la Rambla
Tramo fácil y casi llano, ideal para empezar este recorrido y calentar piernas.

Tramo 2: l'Arquet de la Rambla - Puntal de Artana
Es la cima más alta de nuestro recorrido pero la subida se hace en un tramo largo, con lo cual no se siente tan intenso. Justo antes de llegar a la cima, hay una trinchera de la Guerra Civil, muy bien conversada.

Tramo 3: Puntal de Artana - Cingles de Mondragón
Este tramo es un tramo de bajada primero y luego subida. La subida es corta y fácil. Desde la cima se puede apreciar el entorno precioso de esta zona, entre montaña y mar a lo lejos.

Tramo 4: Cingles de Mondragón - Penya del Migdia
Este tramo también es bajada y subida. Sin embargo, la subida hasta el Penya del Midgia es más dura. Tras haber hecho unos 10km de recorrido, con el cansancio que se empieza a sentir, tenemos que subir un tramo corto pero empinado de montaña, con algunos pasos donde hay que trepar.

Tramo 5: Penya del Migdia - Cueva de San Vicent
Últimos kilómetros de esta ruta, descendemos hasta llegar a la Cueva de San Vicent. Nos sorprendió bastante ya que es grande y se ve profunda. No nos aventuramos más allá pero se ve interesante. Entre la cueva y el coche, quedan unos 600m, de bajada.

Esta es una ruta de nivel moderada-difícil, con tres cimas a coronar. El entorno es precioso e interesante, pasando entre montañas, vestigios del pasado y cuevas. Una ruta muy recomendable que se puede hacer en una mañana de verano o un día de invierno.

🇺🇸 English: Circular route of 13km to Puntal d'Artana, going up towards l'Arquet de la Rambla, through the Cingles de Mondragón, Penya del Migdia and descending via the Cave of Saint Vincent. The route starts in the village of Alfondeguilla, located in the Natural Park of the Sierra de Espadán.

From Valencia, Alfondeguilla is about 50km, just outside Vall d'Uixó. For parking, there is a large dirt parking lot, ideal for this route as the descent path arrives just behind this clearing.

This route can be divided into five sections:

Section 1: Alfondeguilla - l'Arquet de la Rambla
Easy and almost flat section, ideal to start this route and warm up your legs.

Section 2: l'Arquet de la Rambla - Puntal de Artana
This is the highest peak of our route but the climb is over a long stretch, so it does not feel that intense. Just before reaching the top, there is a trench from the Civil War, very well preserved.

Section 3: Puntal de Artana - Cingles de Mondragón
This section is a downhill section first and then uphill. The climb is short and easy. From the top you can appreciate the beautiful surroundings of this area, between the mountains and the sea in the distance.

Stretch 4: Cingles de Mondragón - Penya del Migdia
This section is also downhill and uphill. However, the climb up to Penya del Migdia is harder. After having done about 10km, with the fatigue that begins to set in, we have to climb a short but steep stretch of mountain, with some steps where you have to climb.

Section 5: Penya del Migdia - San Vicent Cave
Last kilometers of this route, we descend to reach the Cueva de San Vicent. We were quite surprised as it is large and looks deep. We did not venture further but it looks interesting. Between the cave and the car, there are about 600m downhill.

It is a route of moderate-difficult level, with three summits to crown. The environment is beautiful and interesting, between mountains, vestiges of the past and caves. This is a highly recommended trail that can be done in a summer morning or a winter day.

Pueden seguir las flechas moradas que nos indican el camino hasta l'Arquet.

You can follow the purple arrows that show us the way to l'Arquet.

Ruinas | Ruins

🇪🇸 Llegamos a unas ruinas que pasamos para llegar a la cima.

🇺🇸 We come to some ruins that we pass to reach the top.

Penya del Migdia - 584m

🇪🇸 Llegamos a la última cima de este recorrido. La más baja pero la más intensa sin duda! A la cima han instalado un banco en memoria a Atizon.

🇺🇸 We arrive at the final peak of this route. The lowest but certainly the most intense! At the top they have installed a bench in memory of Atizon.
