Last day of trekking in a clockwise direction.
To be honest, we have also met people who do it in the opposite direction but, in my opinion, it is pure madness. Going by jeep to Landruk and then climbing the very heavy stairs that lead to Chomrong on the first day, just to save a day or two of trekking, without also seeing the splendid landscapes of the DhaulaGiri area seems to me to be a way of conceiving trekking very far away from mine (slow pace, different landscapes, enjoyment of nature, discovery of hidden corners). Anyway, there are those who do it and that's okay.
From Sinuwa you descend hastily to the river and immediately go back up to Chomrong, among cultivated fields, rice paddies and inhabited areas. We had already come this far.
From Chomrong we now head towards Jhinu Danda via a truly tiring path of stairs (if we then had to do it uphill...). That's 520m of altitude difference in 1.8km, close to 30%...
The route is all through inhabited areas, mandarin sellers, artisan product tents, healthy joy.
In Jhinu you have to be careful to take the right staircase because the many lodges are confusing.
It would be very nice to go to the thermal springs just below (the Hot Springs) but our guide claims that there is no time. Among the porters, someone escapes and goes there and tells enthusiastic stories about it...
Instead we continue. We are now on the hydrographic right of the river but the route is not so simple, you will have to cross it several times on the typical suspension bridges.
The first one we encounter is very long, almost 300m. When you are in the center, you dance like at sea during a storm.
The path, in this area subject to landslides, often turns suddenly and the tracks are a little improvised.
You arrive at the New Bridge, a new bridge that flanks the old one made of ropes and wood...
Once you have passed on the left bank, the landscape changes, now it is pure tropical forest (we are a few degrees north of the Tropic of Cancer although at 1500m above sea level).
The walk in the forest is very beautiful and every now and then the valley opens up, a waterfall suddenly appears, a bridge makes you jump over to the other side.
Finally you go up to Landruk, a beautiful village where you can take jeeps to return to Pokhara.
The trek is over, the porters are dancing
