Itinerary description
Day 13. Ballycumber Hill 431m, Seskin Hill 344m, Lakeen 357m and Stookeen 420m.
On many of the peak bagging/outdoor websites I perused for this trip I noted there were very few route descriptions regarding ascents of the lesser known Irish Marilyns. This also applied to the availability of gpx files. I will therefore add relevant information and files that hopefully will provide assistance to future hikers/peakbaggers.
Lakeen 357m, South Wicklow, Eire (Marilyn).
Lakeen along with Seskin is just NW of Shillelagh. Access and parking is also again at the end of a long narrow back road. The parking is not much better however with room for only about two vehicles at the entrance of a forest track.
Now the route is very short and easy peasy, just follow the gpx track. It follows a track which ever way you go to the wind turbined top. There is no summit marker but the views are really nice.
Parking: 2 cars at the entrance of a forest track.
Route: Short, on track, not much uphill, lots of turbines and some pleasant views.
Statistics: 2km with 85m of heigh gain done done in 28mins.
Maps: Outdoor Active digital Harveys/Irish Topo.
