IMPORTANT NOTE: THE DIFFICULTY WITH WHICH I CATALOG MY ROUTES IS REFERRED TO MOUNTAINS USED TO WALK, WHO UNWIND WITH FACE ON ALL THE LAND, NOT FOR OCCASIONAL HIKERS. IF YOU HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE, ADD ONE MORE DEGREE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF MY ROUTES SO YOU WILL NOT GET SURPRISES
Interesting and simple circular route to visit the Lake Louise area, within this impressive glacial valley, one of the best known and busiest in Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies. It is a bear area and they warn you everywhere, in such a way that you can end up obsessing a little. We did not find any, but it is assumed that as you are far from the busiest areas, it is advisable to go in groups, make some noise, speak loudly and even carry antious exprays.
The route is very simple and can really be lengthened and shortened according to the need and desire of each one. We made a complete version, although a posteriori, I think it fell a bit short. We climbed from the Lake Louise service area along the Lake Agnes Trail to Mirror Lake and then to the lake that gives the trail its name. Then we climb the Big Beehive (a small hill that closes off Lake Agnes to the south and offers spectacular views). We then went down the Highline Trail, then diverted to the Plain of the Six Glaciers Trail, before returning along the Lakeshore Trail to the starting point. I regret not continuing to the bottom of the valley on the Plain of the Six Glaciers Trail, but we didn't have much time and we were a bit obsessed with the bear theme (it was our first hike in the area).
We did the route in August 2007 but I created it manually in April 2020.
