Itinerary description
We parked at the Wallaby bay car park, ample parking but no amenities.
Walk southward back up the gravel road to Merlo's lookout, then take the track on the opposite of the road up the embankment, this is the start of a 1klm steep climb to an old vehicle track, follow this to the Blowhard summit, a good spot to rest your legs and take in the views.
We took the track to the left towards the High Camp and after approximately 1 klm, you meet the Devass Gully track which we took to start our return, this track is very steep in places and descends for 2 klm to meet the Aird Inlet track, turn right here and head towards School point, the trail from here meanders around Lake Eildon back to Wallaby Bay. This part of the walk is in stark contrast to the first 4.6 klm of steep climbs and descents.
Overall a hard walk but well worth the effort, great views of Lake Eildon
