POINT OF DEPARTURE: I started from yha keswick, but if you arrive by bus, you can leave from the bus station.
HOW TO GET THERE: You can arrive by train to Penrith, this train has many stops such as Preston, Manchester, etc. You can also go from London. It is common to find advanced offers at certain times.
From almost the same Penrith train station you can catch buses to Keswick. I took the gold x5. They have wifi, that's if the trip left me 7.30 pounds (2018). It makes several stops in Keswick, but the most usual is the bus station.
PEOPLE: Keswick is the main town in the area and has all kinds of tourist services. Crowd of hotels, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and even a market. Stop many buses and highlights the booths supermarket. There are also shops to buy mountain sports items.
ROUTE: most of the way itself is easy, in some moments the climb is less road. On the way down it gets a little worse. That if the difficulty is that it is long and that the cumulative unevenness is more than 1000m. I did it clockwise, but I came across a lot of people who did the opposite.
VIEWS: On clear days the views are excellent. The higher the better. You can see Keswick, Derwent water, Basenthwaite lake and Blencathra. You can also see many cows, sheep, birds that I do not recognize and even went through a lookout for osprey.
OTHERS: please respect the signs, sometimes they go through the pastures of sheep and cows or private houses. Do not bother. Take your trash home, even the organic one.
