End point: Lake Anbil (940 m above sea level)
Distance: 1.5 km

Descend: 10 m
Duration: 1.5 hours

Lake Anbil (Ənbil gölü) is situated near Zeyva village (Zeyvə) in Shabran district (Şabran) in a close proximity to Guba district (Quba). Sitting at 940 metres above sea level, the lake is surrounded with dense mountain forests.
Zeyva village dates back to VII century and its name means “corner” or “angle” in Persian. The village has an ancient cemetery and a mosque built in XIX century. A ruined Caucasian Albanian church in neighbouring Kilvar village (Kilvar) is considered to be one of the outstanding historical monuments in the area.
Zeyva is 35 km from Shabran city and there is an asphalt-covered road leading to the village. Before starting the ascend to Lake Anbil, one needs to depart the village in off-road cars toward oil derricks located at 7-8 km further. There is a small waterfall at the starting point of hiking trail. In 2016, Camping Azerbaijan team did a trail blazing to mark the route leading to the lake. The trail is 1.5 km long crossing over a small stream and sometimes going through steep slopes.
One may witness magnificent views of the lake every season. The lake becomes transparent outside rainy seasons and the most of its surface is frozen from the end of January till the end of March. A small mountain stream draining into the lake may provide drinking water in picnics. Main hiking activities are around summer and autumn months but a new trend of winter hiking is in the rise.
