Itinerary description
The easy hike through the woods. The ascent at the beginning could be skipped with the funicular but you will miss glorious views of Hallstätter See and the ascent is not so steep actually. After that go beyond Salzberg mines and just follow the road. Almost all the way I saw no one, except for a couple of chamois. I did it on a sunny and windless winter day and didn't experience any problems, but with other weather it could have been a lot less enjoyable.

Great loop. The ascent is steep although easy and the good thing you can forget about the crowds of tourists (we did it on Sunday in August), as there are quite a few by the Salt caves. The good views are on the way up. The downhill is also very nice & quiet athough not such good views of the lake as on the uphill.
