Itinerary description

Starting from the road between Santa Barbara and Ralco (370m), the trek follows the river Estero Pirquinco all the way up to the Laguna Pirquinco. The path is easy to follow and distance is 10 km. It took us 4 hours to get to the Laguna Pirquinco (1300m).

The next part of the trek to the Lagune Los Patos was much more difficult. It is very steep and very badly indicated. There seem to be dozens of different paths and you get lost easily and lose time and energy. It took us two hours from Lagune Pirquinco to Laguna Los Patos (1670m).

Finally from the Laguna Los Patos we hike all the way up to the top of the mountain. This is a last steep part but easy to find as there are only small bushes. You cross ducks and cows. It took us one more hour to get to the top : it's definitly worth it! You can see all the mountains around and 4 different volcanos (1930m).
