Itinerary description

Sorata's Glacier Lake is located at more than 5000 meters in elevation. You best way to start the hike is to take a taxi as far up towards Laguna Chillata as you can (80-100 bolivianos). From there, the Glacier Lake is still pretty far away (1000 meters higher) and so it's best to camp at Laguna Chillata and not do the entire hike in a single day. From Laguna Chillata, it takes 4-6 hours to hike up the Glacier Lake. Te get back to Sorata, it's best to talk to the locals on your way down and see if you can hire a driver.

The Glacier Lake

The Glacier doesn't quite compare to what it was 15 years ago. You can probably guess which picture is the one I took.
