Lake Naivasha Lake Naivasha is an African freshwater lake located in Kenya, on the outskirts of the small town of Naivasha (14,563 inhabitants in 1999), in Nakuru County, which is located northwest of the capital Nairobi. . It is one of the lakes of the Great Rift Valley, the highest of the group. The name is derived from the local Maasai name Nai'posha, which means "rough waters" and derives from the turbulence caused by sudden storms.
