THE HUNDRED THOUSAND SONGS OF MILAREPA
You will eat the food of Great Bliss43
when hungry,
And drink the Nectar44 when thirsty.
Then you can help yogis by your actions.
Whereupon Draug Srin Mo and her retinue were overwhelmed with
devotion for the Jetsun, making obeisances and circumambulating him
many times. They cried, "Revered One, we are indeed deeply grateful
to you!" and disappeared like a rainbow, vanishing into the sky.
From then on, they obeyed the orders of Milarepa; they served yogis,
never afflicting them, and became their good friends.
This is the story of [Milarepa's meeting with] Draug Srin Mo
MILAREPA IN RAGMA
Obeisance to all Gurus
W HEN the Jetsun Milarepa decided to go to Riwo Balnbar from
Linba Draug to practice meditation, he notified his patrons in
Ragma. They said, "Near Riwo Balnbar there is a temple in a very
delightful place. We recommend that you stay there. As to Riwo Baln-
bar, we do not know very much about it. Revered One, you may re-
main in the temple at first; meantime, we will send out people to
survey the region for you."
Milarepa thought to himself, "First I shall go to the temple for
awhile, then I shall proceed to Riwo Balnbar." He .then said to them,
"I do not need your guide; I can find the way myself." When the
patrons asked, "Do yo;.~ have a guide?" Milarepa replied, "Yes, I have."
"Who is he? Tell us more about him."
In answer Milarepa sang:
The glorious and accomplished Guru
Who dispels the darkness, is the guide.
Away from cold and warmth, these cotton
clothes, 1
By which I renounce fur-craving, are the guide.
The Invocation, Identification, and
Transformation Yogas2
Which crush the delusion of Bardo, are
the guide.
That which shows you the way in all journeys
through all lands-
The complete mastery of PraQa-Mind3
