Itinerary description
Wonderful loop hike across the limestone cliffs above Laerru. The trail was developed by the non-profit Pro Loco "Rigorona" group and is in excellent condition, with clear signs throughout. There are even a few QR codes displayed along the route, where you can access audio commentary (in Italian), explaining various historical and geological features.
Starting from in Piazza Vittoria in the centre of Laerru, the hike proceeds clockwise, first going around Corona Maiore and continuing to Rocca Manna. This direction is suggested as you'll complete the more challenging technical sections first, and also enjoy the best views during the second half of the hike.
The hike is fairly short and not particularly difficult, but it includes a few ladders and rope sections. Not recommended for dogs or children.
The views of the Anglona countryside are spectacular. Along the way you'll pass fossilised sea shells, abandoned quarries, and shelters for sheep and goats, as well as a section of climbing walls (Sa Rocca Rutta).
Back in town, there are a couple of small bars where you can stop for refreshments / facilities.
