Itinerary description

Start from restaurant down close to the parking. Easy first 2km then up rocky trail very steep for about 300 m elevation. Not for kids or those with vertigo. There are metal ropes to help you through the difficult parts. No climbing gear needed but dangerous no doubt. After the first 300 m climb trail goes into forest and is safer and easier. Still steep but manageable. In 2.5 hours you reach the refuge, food and drink available where there is a crossing to go up to the lake, till another 2 hours or so or a trail that goes to the right easy but long descent to the bottom of the valley. This descent is about 6km through the forest.
To get to the lake you go straight after the refuge. It is a hard climb almost two hours. Steep at times, slippery, no real danger areas. A few cascades with ropes to help you through. There is a refuge just 30 min, 2 km from lake. Recommend to sleep there and not come back straight because it is long. Specially for the less fit.
The return is long. We did 24 km total not 18 km like stated below. We chose to go down the long flatter way. It rained and considered too dangerous to descend the steep way. Easy to slip in the direct route and not worth the risk when it rains.
