La Trocha – Rio Pereilas
This linear walk starts from the La Trocha shopping centre car park on the outskirts of Coin.
Please note on Sundays there is a very popular flea market in the car park from 9am – 2pm, so parking is somewhat restricted.
Take the Camino La Trocha and turn left onto Camino Cortijo Los Fernandez.
At the intersection turn left onto the sendero Coin to Villafranco, which is a quiet dirt road. Follow this to the main road (which is a bit narrow and can be busy at times), then it’s a short distance to the Toblerone bridge, where you take the slip and the start of the Sendero Rio Pereilas SL-A163.
This is a nice riverbank walk. The river was exceptionally dry but there was good shade from the eucalyptus trees.
I noticed a lot of tall bamboo reeds obscuring the river in many places.
This is a good area for bird spotting.
Return the same way you came.
Bar La Trocha adjacent the petrol station is a great place for drinks and tapas after your walk.
