Itinerary description
We selected a weather window based upon on a site specific for Pelée http://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Mont-Pelee/forecasts/1397
Locals advised to wait until 9:30 a.m. before climbing to allow the clouds to lift. THEY WERE RIGHT!!! The clouds lifted when we reached the Caldera and returned as we finished at Refuge #1.
Varied terrain from steps to flat to rock scramble to loose rubble on the descent into crater. There was even a ladder to climb getting up and out of the crater!!! IF it were rainy or wet, the section with the rock scramble and loose rock would have been very difficult!!! As it was, the loose rubble was the most difficult part due to the steepness and loose slippery stones! We were fortunate with dry weather and sun!!!
The hike was NOT difficult. We took it slow to enjoy the views. Again, IF it were wet, it would have been a different story!!!
To avoid any rock scrambles or the "toughest" parts, you could go up and around the crater to where the choice is to go to Le Prȇcheur or to 3rd Refuge... then turn around and go back the way you came!

I followed this track in Jan 2019. Don't understand why m/v Seamantha described it specifically as "NOT" difficult. Actually it involves a lot of climbing (especially during the loop around the mountain top) which people may find difficult. But it was fun nevertheless!
